New School Houses!

We have a new system of houses in school this year. The four houses are Narnia, Neverland, Oz, and Wonderland, with a mix of children from grades one to eight in each.

The campus is divided up into four parts, and each house is in charge of keeping their part clean, weeding and watering the plants, doing a longer-term environmental project, and keeping their softboards updated and exciting. They have a time every day to clean, and a period once a week for bigger projects and gardening.

The houses also prepare for and participate in inter-house competitions. So far, we have had English story-writing, Hindi story-telling, and an environmental kick-off. Upcoming ones are performance and sports.

Houses get points for the cleaning, for assembly time, and for competitions and other achievements. They also get points if their members participate in intra-school competitions – our students went to a karate tournament, a cultural literacy event with singing, speech and writing competitions, and a general knowledge quiz.

The leaders-in-training are children from grades 7 and 8.
