Magic happens when you read a good book!

At Southpoint, we believe that good books are like magic. They create possibilities and hope, for a new world. This belief made us strive for collecting all the best books of the world for our children and teachers. This belief took form of one of the best libraries in the country. We call it best because we have books of all kinds and it serves all forms of purpose. Some examples are world classics, encyclopaedias, inventions and discoveries, fiction, poetry, books for competitive exams, travel, religion, spirituality, etc. There are three main sections, namely: Children’s library, adult library and a research library. We keep adding new books every year and we take utmost care to keep them in good health and maintenance. A lot of effort goes into it but we are happy to do it as we value it even more. The incharges of this make sure that all the necessary rules are followed. “Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and

wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”

― Charles William Eliot

“So, please, oh please, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away, and in its place you can install, a lovely bookcase on the wall.”

― Roald Dahl

The two authors have very well stated what we want to convey. In our shop we have many  story books, reference books and text books. These are available at very reasonable prices. We welcome all dwellers of this holy city to come and spend some time exploring this world  of books. We are sure you’ll fall in love with it.

Take care!

Teachers's Entertainment

Teachers’ Entertainment

At NIRMAN, teachers are very busy for their hectic schedule programme throughout the year, such as teaching which includes enhancing their teaching techniques, regular activities like fair, open house, workshops, self development programme, music concerts, theatre etc.
So, for the relaxation of the teachers, there is “teachers’ entertainment programme” in which incharges organize events for the fun and relaxation of the teachers. In every month there is one event like indoor games, outing, trip, pot luck party, going to a movie, story reading and telling activity etc.
There is also a provision of a book reading from NIRMAN management in which some books and magazines are specially issued only for the teachers.
I am glad to tell you that in the last session we had lots of events for our entertainment through out the year but the last event of the last session was unforgettable because we had this trip just before the final evaluations of the students. I still remember everybody was so busy with the evaluation work and suddenly one notice was circulated by our Director that we are going to have a trip to Sarnath and trust me that trip changed our moods; all of us enjoyed a lot and really got entertained. Thanks to our Director!
At last I want to tell you that in spite of a busy and hectic schedule of each NIRMAN family member we have a blend of work plus entertainment.

NIRMAN BLOG SECTION

Hi friends, read and enjoy today's blog  written by our Staff Welfare in-charge Mrs. Harshita Shetty....

Staff welfare

Staff welfare in NIRMAN aims at working in all areas of personal and professional development of the non-teaching staff members. This year we worked for health and educational needs of all of them.

Employees’ state insurance: This takes care of the medical needs of the staff whose salary is less than 15000 Rs. This is a government scheme in which every month the salaried employee and the organization jointly contribute to a fund which acts like an insurance. Each staff gets an ESI card which he carries to ESI hospitals to get medicines in case of sickness.  The scheme also claims to give compensation in cases of accidents, injury and in cases of operation and surgery.
We are trying to work at the knitty-gritties of this scheme in order to get maximum benefit from this.

Each One, Teach One:  NIRMAN works for children and adults, both. The teachers at NIRMAN teach not only the children who come to learn here but each teacher works one on one with one staff member to improve their language skills in areas of reading, writing and conversing. Teachers interact with their assigned staff member to help share their problems and cope up with all the daily issues.
Our staff members get training to continuously improve in their work areas.
We hold monthly presentations to give platform to help them shed their fears and develop self confidence.

Incharges: Making incharges from amongst staff members develops leadership skills and capabilities; this is a policy which we use here every day.  Café incharge, transport incharge and various such incharges are chosen from amongst staffs who work in these areas. This is done to motivate them to take total responsibility and avoid blaming or accusing.

The aim is to erase the gap between THEM and US.

NIRMAN BLOG SECTION

Hi, today's blog is written by our guest Andrea...

A journey from Michigan to Varanasi

My name is Andrea Godoshian. I am a 22 year old Music Therapy major at Eastern Michigan University. I have come to Banaras to study table and share my knowledge of Western pop music. I have been drumming for 10 ten years, and I have been teaching private and group lessons for the last 4 years. Recently, I was awarded two scholarships from the college of Arts & Sciences, an opportunity to present at EMU’s undergraduate symposium and featured roles with the EMU percussion ensemble. I have also performed in World class drumlins and the Ann Arbor Art Fair.
I have spent two weeks in Banaras thus far, and I love it! There is a lot of life in this city, and almost everyone treats me like family my guruji, Pt. Kuber Nath Mishra, is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is very nice, but also keeps me busy with plenty of compositions. The teachers  I have at NIRMAN also feel like family. They always make themselves available when I need assistance and they always check if I am okay. I am very excited to see what these few weeks bring, because there is never a dull moment in the city! I feel very blessed to have had this opportunity. Thank you!

NIRMAN BLOG SECTION

Welcome to our blog series written by each member of NIRMAN. So, read and enjoy everyday!

OFFICE OFFICE

Hello friends, I am Angela working at NIRMAN as an Associate Manager. So, I have to look after the office management, transport and staff management. I enjoy working here because of the friendly and healthy atmosphere here at NIRMAN.
Office management includes right from opening to the closing of the office which simply means office manages the co-ordination with the the managers of different departments, teachers, parents and with our lovely supporting staff about their daily work, their self development, their welfare etc.
Like these days we are having English Conversation classes for all our supporting staff and we gave its name “EACH ONE TEACH ONE” in which every manager and teacher has to teach at least one staff member. Similarly, we are empowering our our female staff in café by giving them training of international level. Now they are able to make everything with perfection which you find in other cafés such as cakes, cookies, pastries etc. So, please come to taste it. I am pretty sure no one can eat just one!
Moving on to transport, let me tell you transport management plays a very crucial role because we have two branches in Varanasi. As many of you must know that we have two branches one in Nagwa and the other one in Betawar, so, transport helps in the coordination in the work of both the places. Then we also provide transport facility to our guests who reside in our guest house. We also provide transport facility transport facility to our teachers and students. Really, I am not boasting our transport facility but this is the fact that we have the worlds’ best drivers who are always on time for their duties. Hat off to them!
Last but not the least at NIRMAN each work is incomplete without the hard work and efficiency of our supporting staff. They are efficient and intelligent to handle any task. This reminds me of our favorite Rani di who is the oldest staff. She is in her 70s and still eager to learn English, I mean one can be easily inspired by her zeal to learn with work. All other staff members are also very nice and loving. They are very gentle in talking and they give respect to each other and teachers also and in return they also deserve the same. Trust me till now in my journey of NIRMAN, working with the staff is the best part. I love them and love to work with them.
Now I am concluding with one fact that as every part of tree is important to bring fruits, similarly in NIRMAN with the guidance of top management, with the research and hard work of managers and teachers, with the co-operation and the execution of every plan from the office makes us able to achieve the targeted goals.
